Myself, sister and friend have stayed at Minsterwalk for several years. We always enjoy our stay but found this year the personal touch was lacking. We all also thought the dining/seating area this year a bit mixed up.We only saw one person both mornings at breakfast time. Both members of staff were helpful but it was a bit impersonal. However will be booking for next year. The room(No 4) was comfortable and clean, but could we suggest drinks and food if left as compliments could be covered up.

Booked a night away for my parents who were visiting from New Zealand and my partner and I couldn’t have booked a better place. The rooms were so clean, cozy and warm and we were a 2 min walk from the centre of York! The only side was being woken up before 7am with kegs being delivered to the pub next door.Would definitely stay again!

Travelling with a teenage is tough - you don't want to have to book two rooms, but the extra bed in most hotel rooms is awful. Minster Walk provided a perfect situation:a small apartment with real beds in each room. The location was ideal and everything was as promised.

Having stayed at the Minster Walk Guest House before, we knew that we would enjoy our stay. Plenty of hot mulled wine was available in the lounge &a welcome drink &minced pie awaited us in our room. A lovely view of a frosty York Minster &the park opposite the road could be seen from our room.We would definitely recommend staying here.

The hotel was immaculately clean. There was mulled wine in the lobby on arrival, mince pies and sherry in the room. You just don’t get these lovely personal touches is big chain hotels. The bed was really comfortable. The room was on the small side but perfectly adequate for a short stay and we had the added bonus of a view of the Minster. We would definitely stay here again. We thought when booking this that the parking would be covered for our entire stay but when you check out at 10am you then have to move your car to the pay and display car park which cost an extra £12 but this is not the hotels fault as they need the spaces for arriving guests, just something we hadn’t considered. Location was perfect, just a 10 minute walk in to the centre. Thank you for a lovely stay.

I stayed in Room 5 with my mum and daughter during our visit to the Christmas markets for my mum’s 70th birthday. Even before arrival I emailed and spoke to Ruth on the phone and she was very friendly and helpful. The location just a short walk from the Minster, the Petergate and beautiful gardens was perfect. The room was beautiful with very comfortable beds and a stunning newly decorated bathroom. In the lounge downstairs there was mulled wine and delicious Christmas Cake that you just helped yourself too. The room had a tray full of teas, coffees and hot chocolates but on top of that as part of our deal we got mince pies, Sherry and a bottle of Prosecco. We felt very spoiled and pampered! There were lovely toiletries in the bathroom to use and the shower was great. We put our breakfast order forms in the box in the lounge the night before and it was exactly what we asked for including my request for a non-runny poached egg. The lady serving breakfast also took our payment when we checked out and she was lovely and chatty and very helpful. The parking space for only £5 was perfect in such a busy city too. All 3 of us loved our stay and will definitely be back with the rest of the family!

Absolute gem of a place, From walking in to the cosy lounge and being met with a warm welcome to the WOW factor of our room you would find it difficult to find a 5 star hotel that was better than this and only a stones throw from the centre. Extra touches like the mince pies and glass of sherry in the room, high quality toiletries in the bathroom and the most comfortable bed with Egyptian cotton sheets I have ever slept in helped make it a perfect stay...Thank You so much, we will return

We arrived at Minster with a lovely friendly welcome from Ruth who explained all about our room, breakfast and facilities. On arrival to our room we were greeted with clean surroundings, mince pies, sherry/port and a complimentary bottle of bubbles.Breakfast was ordered and was excellent also offering cereal and juices. Our trip to york was definitely made easier staying close to town and in a warm a friendly environment (especially when we saw the taxi queues on sat night).Would definitely recommend and we hope to return when it is warmer to enjoy boat and bus rides.Thank you yo ruth and her team.

Very well located for a short walk to the city centre and the river.I had stopped here before. It has now been upgraded to a very high standard. No issues.A little disconcerting as reception tends to be unmanned most of the time.It did not cause any issues.Everything you need for an enjoyable break and stay.

We booked 3 rooms at the Minster guest house and it was the best stay we’ve had yet and this is our 3rd year in a row, made to feel so welcome and the rooms are just perfect, clean and comfortable, mince pies and brandy and sweets in the room and the breakfast should not be missed. These people can not do enough for you so a big thanks from all of us. Hope to stay here again in the future. George and family.

Charming B&B which has a lovely homely feel. The room we had was lovely and cosy and decorated with real attention to detail, more importantly, the bed was huge and very comfortable. Conveniently situated only a short stroll from town and lots of bars &restaurants close by. The whole place has a very welcoming feel with extras I wouldn't expect, such as tea/coffee and cake in the lounge for you to help yourself to. Permit parking available within a few minutes walk. Breakfast is freshly cooked to order, and the usual cereals, juices, breads etc included. All in all I would describe it as 'a little gem'and would definitely recommend. We only stayed for one night, but I would loved to have stayed longer and will most definitely stay there again if I return to York.

I rarely write reviews, but feel absolutely compelled to on this occasion in the hope that others can be rewarded with this gem.We had a short one night break in York, away from the kids (yay!) and in this short time the team at Minster Walk have ensured that this is our new home from home for any visits to York.I won't list the things done to make me write this review, as they will seem largely incidental, but instead focus on the way they were done.Everything from our welcome to our leaving, including being able to store luggage both before check in, and after check out, was done with such a lovely feel it really did feel like we were highly valued. There was such a feeling of warmth and welcome, and it came across constantly. The location is great, it was super quiet and the bed was SO comfortable.Honestly would struggle to recommend it higher.

We stayed here for only one night but wish it was for more. The welcome at the point of arrival was fabulous. Friendly staff and super clean place. The room we were allocated was bright and immaculate with lots of lovely toiletries and plenty of tea and coffee and biscuits. The beds were so comfortable we didn’t want to get up in the morning. In fact the sheets were so soft that we asked where they got them from so we might order some for ourselves onceback home . I might have to save up a bit as they are very pricey and it shows in the quality. They even have tea and coffee downstairs in the reception/ sitting area with cake each day for you to help yourself too. Breakfast was awesome. Excellent sausages, none of the cheep stuff here. We will definitely be back again and recommend to all our friends.

We Stayed for two nights in this lovely establishment and we will certainly stay here again. The room was very pleasant, clean and bright. The bed was HUGE and one of the best I have slept in while in hotels or guest houses. The large tv was a surprise as was the choice of drinks available in the room, more than your usual 4 teabags and 4 coffee sachets and the free parking was appreciatedTracey the chef was lovely, very friendly and cooks a mean breakfast using top quality produce, no cheap sausage or water filled bacon here. The addition of a comfortable snug room offering free tea, coffee and home made cake was a lovely added bonus and It’s only a short 5 minute walk from the city centre with all its shops restaurants and barsThe only bad thing, Windows could do with a blackout blind as the sun shining early morning meant I was awake at 5:30am because the curtains let the light inThe proprietors of this guest house seem to care about their guests comfort and have gone the extra mile to ensure it

This was my first time visiting York and i cannot wait to plan my next visit already. Our host Ruth was fantastic;welcoming, knowledgeable, friendly and nothing was too much trouble. She gave us a tour of the beautiful guest house and then directed us to our room which was immaculate and full of additional items which made our stay even more special. One we had settled in, she showed us a map and highlighted great places to eat/drink and visit and told us about all the best places to visit in York. Breakfast the next morning was delicious and it was obvious that the produce was locally sourced as it was totally delicious! I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again - top place, top location and top host!! Thanks :) xx

Stayed for one night in a fabulous two bedroom room with my twin daughters. The rooms were beautiful and the beds were so comfy and the master bed was massive. The breakfast was lovely and the lady cooking and serving it was realy friendly. I would stay her again if visiting York, only a very short walk to the Minster and the town.

Quite easily the nicest guesthouse/hotel we’ve ever stayed in, had the standard double room which was more than large enough, lovely array of hot drink making supplies and loved the complimentary toiletries in the en-suite roomy bathroom. The chocolates on the towels and full-sized bath sheets were a wonderful special touch but best of all was the snug with lovely cake on offer!Well situated in the centre of town, free provision of parking and delicious, generous breakfast.Extremely friendly and welcoming, we will never stay elsewhere when we return to York!Thank you!

My partner and I stayed at the Minister Walk Guest House for one night. The hotel was lovely, great location and amazing features. The hotel itself was clean and well presented. The complimentary cake in the lounge was very yummy!

We really enjoyed our stay at Minster Walk. It was a last minute booking for us and we were very pleased to find such a charming place. It has an excellent location and is convenient for exploring the city on foot fortified by a well cooked breakfast. The staff go out of their way to be friendly and helpful and supply a personal touch missing from the corporate hotels. The provision of cake and coffee is welcome. The room at the "top of the shop"was comfortable and well appointed.( I would advise some hooks on the back of the bathroom door though and a bedside lamp would be good)I look forward to another stay in the future.

The current owners have had the place for about a year and have put a lot of effort making Minster Wallk a beautifully appointed Guest House with a boutique feel.I had to visit York at short notice and booked direct, having read a few reviews of this and a few other nearby hotels.I got a personal email reply from Ruth, one of the owners, with all the information I could need - the personal touch was done well throughout. This was part of a friendly feel, which can only really be achieved in a small establishment.Lovely room and lovely breakfast - latter free to direct bookers.I would definitely visit again.

The room was clean, perfect size, and I appreciated having a desk since I had studying to do. The location is an easy walk to the train station and to the City Centre.

No complaints at all from this first stay at Minster Walk. Very well organised place. Room was spotless and the interior design was modern, but in keeping with the style of the property. Owners, Rob and Lisa, were extremely friendly and helpful. Due to working overseas, I have travelled extensively across the Middle East and SE Asia. I’ve stayed in some nice places over the years but it’s not often that you stay in a place that has got everything right. Rob and Lisa seem to have done that.I complaints from me at all. I will visit again.

Another welcoming and very comfortable stay for the second year in a row, my sister and I always visit York together for a pre-Christmas treat and last minute shopping, last year being the first that we decided to stay overnight and discovered Minster walk. Beautiful clean and comfortable rooms with a very welcome coffee and cake lounge, a lovely surprise to find sherry and mince pies in our room. great location close to the abbey gardens and York minster, waking up to the sound of the abbey bells and a delicious breakfast ! Will most definitely be booking for 2019 !

We are a middle/late aged couple with a daughter aged 20. Wanting to be centrally located but still quiet, we booked the family room 6 for one night wanting to take in the sights and do some Christmas Shopping. This place fitted the bill, its very clean, comfortable and with friendly staff. The beds were comfortable and spotless. The extras inclusive of a welcome drink of sherry and mince pie left in the room added a little extra plus help yourself to cake and a drink downstairs. The pre ordered breakfast was good but as a personal choice we would have liked some fruit and natural yoghurt as well. However, there were tubs of fruited yoghurt. The entrance door was by a secure keypad but the number was not put on our welcome letter so we got locked out and had to ring to get the keypad number. Perhaps this could be included in future within their welcome letter pro forma template? Overall an extremely impressive thumbs up and recommendation to all.

Friendly and well run Guest House house in ideal location in York. A pleasant lounge (home baked cake and fresh milk available) on the ground floor and idiosyncratic bedrooms all with good quality duvets, towels and toiletries. A reliable rest station.

I was looking for a little last minute getaway in York, when I stumbled across this guest house online. The pictures caught my eye so I had a browse and I was very impressed. Every review is a positive and I can see why.The accommodation is beautiful and definitely what we both needed, i love how the rooms have been designed especially the downstairs one. It’s full of tea, coffee, water and homemade cakes for you to indulge in. It’s so peaceful and relaxing, the perfect break from everyday life. The breakfast was delicious and we had a good natter with the lady who is the chef. We stayed in a double room on this occasion and it was perfect, we are hoping to return again in the next 3 weeks, but this time will be requesting to try out the other king size rooms as we’ve heard these are beautiful too. Highly recommend, you’ll have a great stay here. Can’t wait to visit again.Michael &Ashley

Warm friendly staff, spotlessly clean rooms with comfy beds and excellent facilities. The coffee and cake lounge is a very nice touch and we enjoyed sampling the homemade cake after a day out exploring the city.We booked the standard double room as a last minute break and were delighted to be given a free upgrade to a super king room!Breakfast was basic but adequate and tasty! We booked through booking.com so breakfast was extra but if you book direct with the guesthouse it comes included in the price so it is acceptable that it’s basic. We feel our stay was a bargain.A lovely place to stay and only a 5 minute walk to York Minster. We were in room 2 and had a view of it from the window.Would definitely stay here again next time we visit York and would not hesitate to recommend it!!
